Aya joins EALC in fall 2026 as a lecturer in Japanese language.
Aya Tozawa holds a B.A. in East Asian Studies from Akita International University in Japan and an M.A. in Japanese Pedagogy from Indiana University.
She completed professional training through the ALLEX Foundation Teacher Training Institute at Cornell University in 2023. After earning her master's degree, she taught at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology as a Visiting Assistant Professor, where she instructed first- and second-year Japanese courses as well as Business Japanese.
Through her teaching experience, she has developed a strong commitment to fostering engaging, inclusive, and student-centered learning environments. With a passion for promoting cross-cultural understanding, she supports learners from diverse backgrounds in developing not only linguistic proficiency but also a deeper appreciation for Japanese culture. She strives to create a classroom environment where students can recognize and value cultural diversity while developing meaningful connections through language learning.
